I had a discussion with my Bf the other day that regarded the random addictions that we have witnessed in our family and friends lives. This is something that really became a good deep converstation. The question that came to my mind was does it really matter what the addiction is about?? If moderation is key then how is the general act of addiction so accepted? We all know about the obvious addictions that are frowned apon and well known for giving the act of addiction a bad name like addiction to drugs and alcohol.
Have you ever met anyone with an addiction to food, or exersise, or even happieness??? These are all things in my mind that are extremely important parts of our day to day lives. What if we were addicted to one of them, all of them? How would that effect the moderation of the other parts of our lives? Would being addicted to happiness make the sadness that much worse?
I think that maybe moderation would become something that doesn't really register to a person with an addiction. That also brings up the concept of if the addiction is concience or unconscience. Which relates the addiction to a learned habbit. a habbit that can become so natural to someone that there is no longer moderation, and no actual conscience decision of it at all.
Then once it is accepted and understanding comes to the surface of the addiction, How do you stop an addiction? How do you break a learned habbit?? Trying to make the opposite of the habbit itself a new habbit?? The mind must have to overcome the habbit as well, which in my opinion might be the hardest part.
The root to the addiction is seeming to be the first part of it all. Emotions are something that we try to control and understand but if we can't do both then we always look for something that would make us understand or forget completely.
I know I'm asking alot of questions but I'm very curious about this subject. I'm not sure if I have experienced this type of thing or not. It brings alot of things to mind that I have never really thought of before.
